Bach was a German composer of the baroque era. He had a huge impact on western music, aiding the development of counterpoint, harmony, structure and form during this period. John Williams, not only a composer but a conductor too…

UnknownSCMT’s February Composer/Musician of the Month is coming to a close, but just one more interesting fact before we move on. We already know that John Williams is a great film composer, composing some of the most memorable film scores in the last 50 years, but he is also a brilliant conductor. He can be seen conducting many of his film scores across youtube.

For 13 years he was principal conductor of the Boston Pops Orchestra.  Today he can still be seen conducting the Boston Pops Orchestra and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra at special events.

Conducting is a great musical skill to have, so why not ask your tutor this week if you can learn how to conduct…..

*New Tutor Alert* Introducing Stuart D (violin teacher)

WEP_2181Here at SCMT we are delighted to announce that Stuart has come on board with us as a violin teacher. Check out his profile below and please contact Susanna direct on 07720 770153 or email [email protected] if you would like to start lessons with Stuart or any other of our tutors that can be found on our teachers page.

Profile:

To learn to play an instrument well is of great and subtle benefit, firstly to the player, and the for others. Teaching violin allows me to pass on the necessary skills so that pupils can discover for themselves its many possibilities as their instrument. My expectation and experience is that wonderful sounds can be found and enjoyed from the very first lesson. This approach forms a satisfying foundation whatever kind of violin playing the person comes to choose.

I love making music, whether it is as a violinist playing with others or by directing an orchestra. I am happy to offer individual lessons as well as small ensemble sessions, for both children and adults at all levels.

Music matters, as valued nourishment for the soul.
