ABRSM Music Theory Lessons and GCSE/A level study help
SCMT has specialist music theory lessons available, taught by tutors working in every region. They can visit you at home if that’s more convenient. Lessons can be fortnightly if you’d prefer and tuition is mostly focused on ABRSM music theory grading (from beginner to advanced level, grades 1-8). In addition to this, the tutors cover GCSE and A level syllabuses should you require extra help in either of those areas (specifically composition, harmony, transposition etc).
Please get in touch to find out how we can help specifically. We can also advise you on materials such as flashcards, mock exam papers, exam venues, entry date and how much time on average it takes to prepare for a particular exam.
SCMT music theory lessons are available either 1 – 1 or in small groups (up to 5 children of similar ability) and last between 30 minutes and 2 hours.
Here is a testimonial regarding music theory lessons from a parent in Oxford:
‘Jessie desperately needed to pass his ABRSM grade 5 theory exam in order to progress onto grade 6 in piano. Although he always had a basic knowledge, there were massive holes in his ability and the syllabus felt like another planet of information! Transposition, harmony and composition were entirely new to him and Jamie taught him everything he needed to know within 10 term-time sessions. Each week he would give him a past exam paper to complete between the lessons and as the weeks passed his mark got higher and higher. Because Jamie knows the syllabus inside out, he could teach him every element in detail without wasting any time at all. Jessie got a distinction in his Grade 5 theory and we’ll forever be grateful for the extra help.’ Alex, parent.
